APRIL 28, 2000: Jeff Vinzani recently served as Vice-Chairman of the Total Resource Campaign fundraiser for the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. APRIL 4, 2000: Recent news from Cary Gross, Jr., son of Anna-Louise:
Hello Jeff and family !! This web site is new to me and I think its a great idea to say the least! I can remember years ago when we all used to meet at Grandma V's and have a big dinner and spend time together catching up on each other's lives. I wish we could roll back the clock at times but we know how impossible that is. I miss everybody and wish there was a way to see each other more but that is life. I will be getting married on August 12, 2000. I found a wonderful girl outside of Somerset and her name is "Heidi". She is a supervisor for the AT&T cable services in the Somerset area, so the planning is well under way and going pretty smoothly. Its alot of work but will be worth it. I left my job with USA WASTE for employment much closer to home and my new job seems to be working out rather well. Before I was traveling an 80 mile round trip to work and now its a half mile round trip, with a litle better wage. I was with USA FOR 10 YEARS, so it wasn't an easy decision. Grandma and Pap (Ben and Mary)each had their 76th birthdays and are doing well. Pap is still playing the drums and working with wood, making all sorts of trinkets and it keeps him busy!! The way that Grandma likes it ha ha! I hope all is well in love and success !! You will hear from me when I have more to tell, please tell your wonderful family I said Hello and I am thinking about them. Talk to you soon, Love, Cary CONGRATULATIONS TO CARY AND HEIDI!! Please invite us to the wedding!

DECEMBER 31, 1999: HAPPY NEW YEAR! HAPPY NEW MILLENNIUM! We wish you all a very happy new year and hope that the Y2K Bug doesn't bite! Michael will be with us tonight as we have dinner at a neighbor's house. We wish you also a safe evening. Good bye to 1999 and HELLO to 2000!
NOVEMBER 1, 1999: NEWS FROM JEFF VINZANI: I just got back from my 2 week trip to China to see Tim, Debbie, Rianna & Mark! I will post more later. I also should be able to post some pictures. We visited Beijing, Xian, Guiyang, Duyun, Sandu and Hong Kong. Mom and Dad visited Beijing and Xian with us and are now in Duyun with Debbie and the kids. Tim is currently in Bangkok, Thailand for about 1 week. It was a great trip!!
AUGUST 12, 1999: NEWS FROM BEN VINZANI, JR.: Greetings from Somerset, Pennsylvania. Margie and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary by hosting a dinner for our families on July 31st. Our actual anniversary is August 24th, but we decided to celebrate it early due to vacations, etc. I recently bought a 1974 VolksWagen Beetle to toy around with. Gabe thinks it belongs to him. It's a great car and reminds me of the two I used to have in college. When I drive it, people usually smile and point at it, because there are not many of them around. Despite what my wife says, I am not going through a mid-life crisis. Ha!! Gabe has an interview at the University of Pittsburgh this week. He will probably apply for admittance after he starts his senior year at Somerset High school. The fact that I graduated from Pitt has nothing ..repeat...nothing, to do with Gabe being interested in going there. Right? That's all for now. Write when you have some time. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BEN & MARGE!!!
APRIL 19, 1999: Aunt Amelia and Aunt Agnes flew into Charleston on 4/17/99. We met them at the airport with Mom and Dad (Ted & Gladys). Millie and Aggie stayed with us in Charleston for Saturday night and Sunday night. They got to spend a lot of time with Michael. Michael is crawling all over the place! He also is trying to walk. He is walking behind a little "walker" type toy and is loving it. He is so grown up. Its hard to believe he's almost 11 months old now!! Aunt Aggie helped Paige feed Michael; she would open her mouth and say AHHH and Michael would copy her and Paige would insert a spoonful of food. It was so funny. We really had a great weekend with our 2 aunts. They spent the rest of the week in Florence with Mom and Dad. I really want to encourage all of you to visit us in the Charleston area. We have plenty of room and are only about 10 minutes from the beach. Charleston is a big tourist area and there is a lot of fun stuff to do here. And there are a bunch of great restaurants too.
MARCH 15, 1999: Jeff Vinzani was recently awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award by South Carolina College, the Honors College of the University of South Carolina.
MARCH 14, 1999: News from Anna Louise: "Well just a new addition to our family, John Vinzani is a grandfather. Diane's son Shawn and his wife Amber had a baby girl on March 1st in the am. Her name is Sara Elisabeth and she weighed 8lbs and 4or14 oz. not sure about the ounces. Mother, Dad and baby are doing well and came home on March 2nd. Uncle John Jr... is very excited. Pete and I are well. Hope you all are. Its nice hearing from Uncle Ted and Aunt Gladys. Love cousin Anna Louise."
NEWS from Ben Vinzani, Jr.: "Hope this finds you all well. Here are some items for consideration for the Vinzani web page:
*We started the year on a very sad note with the passing of Margie's sister Kathy. It was quite a shock to us. She was only 44 and leaves two young children and a great husband. We appreciated the condolences received from our relatives.
*February 11th my dad Ben Sr. turned 75
*March 18th my mom Mary turns 75
*April 10 sister Gina turns 40
*June 30 my parents will be married 52 years
*August 23 Anna turns 50
*August 24 Margie and I will be married 25 years
*January 12 Carey Gross Jr. turned 30
*A proposal I submitted to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was funded. Somerset Borough will recieve $300,000 for the renovation of its central business district. The Lt. Governor was in Somerset a few weeks ago to announce the grant. I was with him at the press conference.
*Shawn and Amber Walker (John Vinzani's son) had a baby girl, making John a grandfather.
*The Somerset Borough Web site received an award from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for promoting recycling. Please visit Somerset's web page and check it out. It has info on Somerset and a little bit about me too. Even a picture with the city council.
MARCH 9, 1999: I had a great birthday TODAY, March 9th! I took the afternoon off and Paige and I walked around historic downtown Charleston just like tourists and then we went to dinner at a new seafood restaurant called Hank's. It was my first birthday with Michael and he made it a very special day!
Here's a link for Ron too Tulsa Football Recruits
FEBRUARY 11, 1999: HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
Congratulations to Ron Frederick, Jr. for signing with Tulsa University! Here is what proud Mom Anita had to say:
"Hope everyone is doing well. We are fine. Just a line to let everyone know that Ron will sign with the University of Tulsa on Feb. 3. We really enjoyed the visit to Oklahoma a few weeks ago. Ron was very impressed with the campus, football program and coaching staff, and most importantly the academics. You'll have to look for his name in USA Today on Feb. 4th. GO GOLDEN HURRICANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope to hear from all of you soon. Love, Anita, Ron, Ron, Jr., Rob and Renee Frederick P.S. Ben, we don't have the AOL messenger service, but hope to hear from you anyway!
Last weekend, Paige attended a Woman's conference for our church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. SO, Dad and Michael were bachelors for the weekend. I now respect even more what Paige does everyday when I'm at work. Its not that Michael is hard to care for, its just that he is SO BUSY now and demands your undivided attention. It made for a very fun and challenging weekend. I really felt like we bonded even stronger. Both of us guys were excited to see Paige/Mom come home on Sunday!
PLEASE SEND MORE INFORMATION TO ME SO I CAN UPDATE EVERYONE'S INFORMATION!!!
JANUARY 7, 1999: HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I am getting ready to do a MAJOR update to the Vinzani page and need NEWS from ALL of you. Please send your e-mails to me at work (mjv@npjp.com) or at home (Vinzani@worldnet.att.net). I promise to do a better job of updating (1 of my New Years' resolutions!!).
Michael UPDATE: He is doing great. He really isn't a baby anymore; he is a LITTLE BOY already. They certainly grow up quickly. Paige and I are cherishing every moment with our little boy.
DECEMBER 10, 1998:
Well, Christmas is almost here. Michael is now 6 months old and is doing quite well. Ted and Pam went on a great trip to Israel and I hope to get the story from them. We love you guys!
In case you didn't read the Guest Book, here is some information from Ron and Anita Frederick:
Time: 1998-11-08 19:07:10 Comments: Dear Jeff, Paige, Michael and All, Hi! How is everyone?! We are all fine. What a great idea this is, a Vinzani Website! We are not on the net right now, but will be on soon. We really miss you all. We haven't even got to meet Michael yet and I'll bet Evan has grown like a weed! It's hard to believe that summer has gone by and we weren't able to visit this year. We're spending mostly every weekend visiting colleges now that football season is over. Southmoreland didn't do very well this year, but Ron and Rob had a good season and there were no injuries. There are a some schools talking to Ron about a scholarship, but we'll wait until February to see if anything develops. (Tulsa seems to be in the front running, but maybe he will end up down South as Wake Forest is also interested). Renee just finished up her basketball season. She is also a good little athlete. (My kids sure didn't get it from me!) Well enough about my kids, we want to hear what has been going on with your families! As soon as we get an e-mail address, I'll let you know. Love, Anita, Ron, Ron Jr., Rob and Renee
NOVEMBER 6, 1998:
Can you tell we've been busy caring for Michael? I know, I know, its been 2 months since I updated the Family Web Page. Well, I promise to try to do better but you guys have got to promise to send some more NEWS to me.
Michael is now 5 months old and weighs 19 pounds. He's a little bruiser. He is so attentive. He knows what's going on around him at all times. He is still sleeping very well; all through the night without a hitch. More news later. I will also post some new pictures.
ON SEPTEMBER 4, 1998, our son Michael will be 3 months old. 3 months has flown by and he continues to be such a good baby. He is very happy and continues to sleep all night long. He recently had his first little cold and it was so sad to hear him sneeze and cough but he's better now. He now weighs 16 pounds and is so big. We will spend Labor Day weekend in Alabama with Paige's family; Michael will fly for the first time. Paige's cousin has a little girl named Savannah and Savannah's first birthday is September 3rd and Michael will attend his first birthday party. We should have a great time. Paige has already lost almost all of her weight and looks great as always. Our little family is doing quite nicely.
SEPTEMBER 1, 1998: I can't believe summer is over! Oh well, at least football season is here. To me that means University of South Carolina football. I think the Gamecocks will do well this year in the Southeastern Conference.
To Aunt Irene Vinzani Conty, football season will be doubly exciting. Her 2 grandsons, Ron and Rob Frederick, play for the Southmoreland High School Scotties. Ron, who is a senior, is 6' 5" tall and tips the scales at 300 pounds! His "little" brother, Rob, who is a junior, is 6' 4" and weighs in at 304 pounds! WOW! I have not had a chance to talk to Aunt Irene or Anita (their mom)but I did a little detective work and found an article on high school football.
AUGUST 15, 1998: Bernie, Katie & Paul Vinzani of Maine have the following news: Katie, in addition to the work she and Bernie share in their business, MacGregor & Vinzani, has become a certified doula, that is, one who assists women in childbirth. She can do this through their local hospital under the auspices of the patient's doctor. This is a new service to their area, and in addition to their midwife friend, is under great demand. Katie has about 5 births between now and the Fall (where were you Katie when our Michael was being birthed??)
Bernie and Katie's business was recently featured on a statewide Maine Public Broadcasting TV program called "Made in Maine". They spent 7 hours with a TV crew at their shop and learned the fine art of a TV production (they were told often that what they said was great but it took one minute and 3 seconds to say it; would it be possible to cut it down to 34 seconds??--I guess they never spoke to a long-winded Vinzani before!!) By the way, Bernie and Katie manufacture fine paper ---Bernie give us more detail about your actual operation!!!Please.
Bernie was elected Vice President of the Paper Museum of Maine. There is a group around the state of Maine forming a permanent home for this museum. Maine has a long history of papermaking, starting in 1730. The museum has a focus of educating the public, particularly children,to the history, craft and technology of the papermaking process. Bernie also continues his teaching at the University of Maine at Machias, where he is an Associate Professor of Art and the Art Gallery Director.
Bernie and Paul just returned from a trip to the Midwest to see Bernie's mom. They also had a nice afternoon with his cousins Rina and Dina and his Aunt Antoinette. On their return trip, they stopped in Gettysburg, PA to see the battlefield and stood at the site where the "20th Maine" had their call. Paul, who is 8 years old, had a Civil War lesson at the 2 room school he attends in Whiting. This trip did not call attention to the rights and wrongs of the armies involved, but to the human sacrifices of both sides. Paul, who is very perceptive, had many questions on their 14 hour ride home.
AUGUST 14, 1998: MAN HAVE I BEEN SWAMPED! I have not updated the page in awhile. Sorry! Michael is keeping Paige and me very busy. He now weighs 14 pounds and smiles often (especially for his mom) and is giggling too! We're having fun. Thanks to everyone for the nice gifts for Michael. Thank you notes are on the way. Please be patient. I will provide new news shortly! Keep the news coming.
AUGUST 1, 1998: The South Carolina Vinzani family spent last week at Wild Dunes Resort on the Isle of Palms, South Carolina. One of my partners let us use his oceanfront villa. This lovely resort is only about 15 minutes from Paige and my house which was great because its still hard for us to travel with an 8 week old baby boy. The weather was beautiful. We had many wonderful walks on the beach and lots of fresh seafood. Tim and Debbie and their kids, Rianna (5) and Mark (3) were here all week with Mom and Dad (Ted and Gladys) and Paige, Michael and me. Wednesday night, Ted and Pam flew in from Milwaukee and stayed for 5 days. Today, we celebrated Steve's 40th birthday (which is really 8/27/98) and his son Evan's 10th birthday (his birthday was 7/29/98). Evan has gotten to be so tall lately. It was a wonderful and fun family vacation and the first time all 4 boys were together in about 2 years.
JULY 16, 1998: Our newborn son, Michael, slept last night from 9:30 pm to 6:30 a.m (he's only 6 weeks old)!!!! I know that may not sound exciting to some but Paige and I are thrilled!
News from Anna-Louise Vinzani Inverso: Anna and her husband, Pete Inverso, both work at Mayview State Hospital in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania. Pete has 23 years of state service and Anna has 20 years of state service. Pete works in the Forensic unit and deals with criminals who have a psychiatric diagnosis that are waiting to stand trial. Anna is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and works with chronic schizophrenic patients. They both enjoy their work, though it can become very nerve racking at times (as you can imagine). At present, Pete is working the 3-11 shift and Anna is working the 7-3 shift.
Anna's daughter, Natalie Ballenger, is now 31 years old (am I supposed to tell that?) She lives in Bellefonte, PA, which is in the State College area. She works for The Barish Group in accounting and payroll. She has a 9 year old daughter, Kara Ann, who attends Catholic school in Bellefonte. Kara is active in the YMCA, enjoys jazz class, swimming, learning the computer and visiting Grammie Annie.
Anna's son, Cary, is 29 years old and lives in the outskirts of Somerset, PA. He works in Portage, PA for U.S.A. Waste and is in charge of Preventive Maintenance. He enjoys fishing, hunting, golf, lifting weights and 4-wheeling (and breaking girls hearts, I am sure).
Pete Inverso's daughter is 21 years old and attends American University in Washington, D.C. She is a 4th year honor student studying forensic psychology (following in Dad's field?). While home for the summer, she works at a local pizza shop and is doing an internship at Mayview Hospital.
In June '98, Anna, Natalie, Kara, Cary, Gina Vinzani Mostoller (Anna's sister), her son Derick and her husband David, all enjoyed a week together at Disney World in Orlando, FL. They had a wonderful time, especially Derick and Kara who received almost all of the Disney character's autographs. Anna and family will have many lasting memories from this fun vacation.

JUNE 28, 1998: Some of you may have already noticed that on Page 2 of the Web Page, I have posted a couple of pictures of the baby and the proud parents. I have had a problem getting the pictures small enough to view properly but they print okay. Michael has grown a lot since the pictures (he's up over 9 pounds now!). We're having fun!
JUNE 22, 1998: All is well with the new baby; Michael is doing great and Mom and Dad are getting used to all the feedings and diaper changes!! He truly is a precious little boy. Thanks to everyone for all of their well wishes. Yesterday (FATHER'S DAY) really was special for me because it was the First Father's Day with Michael. I will be adding some pictures soon once I get them scanned in at the right size. My father, Ted, really has been a great example of what a wonderful father should be and I hope that I can do as great of a job as he has done.
